Rebecca Lauer is the founder of Hypnosis Chicago, the original and only practice by that name. She has been in private practice now in downtown Chicago for nearly ten years, specializing in weight loss, smoking cessation and overcoming stage fright and test anxiety. She offers individual, group and corporate sessions.

She holds two national certifications in Hypnosis, from the National Guild of Hypnotists and The American Council of Hypnotic Examiners as well as certification as a Master NLP Practiticioner.

Her work with smokers was featured in the January 2006 issue of the Sunday Chicago Tribune and the January 2007 edition of UR Chicago Magazine. Rebecca has also been recommended by Today's Chicago Woman for weight loss and was recently featured on CBSNews2 website and The Columbia Chronicle. She has conducted both corporate and public workshops, including those for Gilda's Club, Border's Bookstore, Northwestern University sororites, and recently The National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. Currently over 60% of her practice is referrals, many from medical doctors and other health care practicioners.

During her years in practice, Rebecca has successfully worked with thousands of clients on a broad range of issues, from weight loss, smoking and bad habits to fears of public speaking, taking tests and more. Currently over 50% of her practice is referrals, many from medical doctors and therapists. The most frequently cited side effect reported by her clients is the ability to sleep better and an overall feeling of well-being and peace of mind. Many clients also report that chronic pain caused by tension has disappeared as well.

Her clientele includes lawyers, doctors, celebrities, traders, executives, housewives, students, athletes, performers, artists, writers and probably someone you know.

Philosophy/Approach:

"I am strongly committed to seeing clients get results. So I listen very carefully to what clients are saying in order to determine what self-limiting beliefs and thoughts may be interfering with their goals, then I design your session around your specific goals and needs. I often include a range of proven hypnotic suggestions and positive imagery, as well as powerful NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques, Parts Therapy and age regression. Mine is a personal, intuitive, spiritual approach. And because I have trained with two different professional organizations (The National Guild of Hypnotists and The American Council of Hypnotic Examiners), I "have more tools in my toolbox" than those who hold memberships in just one organization. I can offer an eclectic mix of techniques, choosing from a myriad of methods those that I think will be the most effective for you, instead of being dependent upon just a few.

Certifications and Qualifications:

Rebecca currently holds national certifications from two of the most highly respected professional hypnosis organizations in the country. Both require qualified, ongoing training and hold their members to a strict Code of Ethics.

She is a member in good standing of The National Guild of Hypnotists, rated the Number One Hypnosis Organization by Congress in 1993. The National Guild is a well-established professional organization with international membership, and works tirelessly to keep its members up-to-date on the latest issues. Recently she has been a Speaker at NGH's Mid-America Conference here in Chicago.

Rebecca is also a member of The American Council of Hypnotists Examiners (ACHE), founded by Gil Boyne in 1973. ACHE is a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards of its members. To be certified by ACHE, professionals must have 250 hours of supervised, in-depth hypnosis training and take 30 hours of Continuing Education Courses annually.  Graduates must pass both an oral and written exam, proving they have a solid grasp of a wide range of techniques. She is trained in both basic and advanced hypnotic techniques such as Parts Therapy, NLP and Gestalt, Rebecca has the resources and training to approach an issue from many different angles. Her focus is spiritual, intuitive, and personal.

Recently Rebecca was certified as a Master Practitioner of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) by Dr. Wil Horton of The National Federation of Neurolinguistic Psychology.

Note: I invite prospective clients to confirm my credentials. Remember, anyone can say anything on a website, so make sure your hypnotherapist is certified with at least one professional organization. It is also helpful to ensure that your hypnotherapist has experience working with your particular issues. Training is important, but there is no substitute for solid experience with an issue.

Previous Life Experience:

Prior to becoming a hypnotherapist, Rebecca was a an advertising copywriter for some of Chicago's leading agencies, winning numerous awards for her creativity and writing skills. She has also written several books for World Book Encyclopedia, and has penned a humor piece that was published in the June 2002 issue of "Being Single" magazine. She graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Journalism and English. She has been a lifelong student of psychology, metaphysics, and the human potential.
