Q.Can Hypnosis help with weight loss?
A. Yes. Countless people have used hypnosis successfully to take weight off, and keep it off. In fact, according to a Dateline Study and others, those who used hypnosis not only lost weight, but they kept it off longer than those who just used dieting alone. That is because until you change the underlying beliefs that caused the overeating/overweight, any diet will achieve only temporary results. Clearly, those who used hypnosis were able to make changes at deeper levels of the mind, so that their eating habits were changed for life.
Q. Can hypnosis help me get off sweets, junk food and eat less?
A. Yes. I’ve personally helped thousands of people in my practice to drastically cut back or eliminate sweets from their diet, stay away from junk food, and gain some control over their portions. I include stress reduction and self-esteem suggestions in every session, because the research shows that it is easier to lose weight when we are feeling better about ourselves and are less stressed. There are several NLP and other proven hypnotic techniques that I use to achieve these results, as well as¬†suggestions that food (or sweets or junk food) is becoming less and less important to you, that you naturally prefer (crave) healthier foods, and so forth.
Q. How many sessions does it take?
A. This can vary from person to person, but in general, I recommend 4 sessions to start for weight loss. This is for several reasons. First, weight loss tends to be a bit more complex, in that there are usually several emotional reasons why we’re overeating (stress, boredom, to reward ourselves) and several behaviors we want to change (late-night munchies, addiction to sweets, portion control, lack of exercise). Hypnosis works best when we focus on one issue or behavioral goal at a time. If we try to do too much in one session, we dilute the results. So for best results, it is best to concentrate on one¬†goal¬†per session. For instance, one session might be devoted to portion control, another to getting off of sweets, another to exercise motivation, and so on. Sessions also build on one another and have a cumulative effect. If you’ve struggled with weight loss for many years, are clinically obese or have sabotaged yourself in the past, then six sessions may be a more realistic number for you.
Q. Can I use hypnosis to stay on Weight Watchers, Paleo and Vegan?
A. Yes, and hypnosis can make it much easier to stick with any one of these weight management plans. For instance, if you choose to stay on a Vegetarian diet, I can give you suggestions that you automatically choose the Vegetarian choices, and are satisfied on this plan. If it’s Weight Watchers, suggestions can be given that you find it easy to stay within your points total, that you write everything down, etc. Hypnosis can be an excellent complement to your diet plan. Of course, many people choose to do hypnosis without any particular diet in mind, and that works just as well.
Q. I feel my eating is out of control. Can hypnosis help?
A. Yes. When eating is out of control, emotional issues need to be addressed. Perhaps you are eating to alleviate stress, frustration, boredom or loneliness. Or maybe you think you need the weight for protection or that you don’t deserve to look and feel your best. Maybe you like to reward yourself with food. Whatever the reason, hypnosis can help once again. Under trance, you’ll be given suggestions that apply to your unique situation, goals and needs. For example, you’ll receive strong post-hypnotic suggestions that you now deal with your emotions in a positive, constructive manner and stop using food to satisfy your emotional needs. Powerful NLP techniques and Parts Therapy may also be used to achieve results.

Q. How does your weight loss program work?
A. During the first session, I’ll ask you a series of in-depth questions so that I can develop the most effective, results-oriented session for you. For best results, both the underlying emotional reasons for eating as well as specific behavioral changes will be addressed. Each session includes some stress reduction and self-esteem boosting, because we know every issue is resolved faster when we are feeling better about ourselves.
You determine your priorities. I’ll ask you what specific behaviors you’d like to change, and where you’d like to start. For instance, maybe you want to get off sweets, eat less and exercise more. I’ll then ask you to prioritize your goals, although I may make recommendations. Hypnosis works best when we focus on one goal at a time. If we try to do too much in one session we dilute the results. Or perhaps you feel you always sabotage yourself and don’t know why. In that case, I’d recommend doing some advanced techniques to discover why for our first session.
Q. How effective is hypnosis for weight loss?
A. The good news is that hypnosis is very effective for weight loss. A recent Dateline Study showed that hypnosis was the most effective way to lose weight, even over Atkins. Recent studies have also shown that those who use hypnosis are able to keep the weight off longer than those who simply go on diets. I have personally been privileged to witness hundreds of people achieve their weight loss goals with hypnosis.

Interesting Case Study: I was working with a young girl who wanted to drop 20 or 30 pounds, and who reported that she “hated” exercise. It bored her, it was tedious, she’d rather be doing anything than hitting the gym. Sandy (not her real name) said she even had a gym at work that was free to employees, and she still couldn’t get herself to go. Yet she wanted to go right after work, since she wasn’t a morning person, and lunch time was just too hectic.
